Two netbook wallpapers

sqwabb

Both for my Acer Aspire One 533, with it’s little 10.1-inch screen.

Q-Box-1024x600My basic Ubuntu wallpaper, referencing the Aspire’s Atom processor, and the Windows 7 Starter OS. There’s my G4 iBook, and the awfully fun HP Pavilion TX1000 I had prior to the Aspire. The woman pictured on the wall is a cosplayer in the character of Radical Ed, from the late 1990s anime series, Cowboy Bebop.

Ubuntu-12.04-usb-1024x600This was specifically for various experimental versions of Ubuntu 12.04 running on a 16 GB Patriot USB stick.Click the images to see the 1024 x 600 versions.

The View From Here

If there were a theme this month it would be to look beyond the metaphor. I think it is an acquired skill to look beyond the apparent complexity of a thing and see it for what it truly is beneath. Instead, we tend to ascribe other complex meanings and personifications to inanimate objects. Take, for example, a rose. The symbolism, the inferred meaning of love and beauty is significant, yet the truth of the object is that it is just a flower. With thorns.

So how many situations in your daily life are like this? Tons of implied or inferred meaning but bottom line, it’s just a colored cloth tied to a pole. Or an asterism. Wallpaper of the Week (#126) – Joyful Face

Free Resource: June Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

virukkaJun2013

Okay, so I haven’t been able to make a desktop calendar since March… and I am so excited to share this one with you!  We were singing this song for worship during our youth night and I just had that line stuck in my head.  When I get down on myself, I have to remind myself that I was created by the God of the universe, and he chose to make me the way I am – weaknesses and all – which to him is perfect and beautiful.  Another line in the song is “you make me new, you are making me new”…. I think what gives me the most hope is that he isn’t done creating me… he is continually refining me and changing me to be more like his son Jesus Christ.  I need to stop being so hard on myself especially when I fail time and time again…

I love the simple beauty of geometric pieces. The shapes have a unique dynamic when grouped together like this.

In creating this piece, I came across a handful of design solutions I would have enjoyed using here. I plan to make this a series so I can revisit different techniques, colors, arrangements, approaches, etc.
